Abstract

This Paper provides understanding of the geopolitical context of new crisis that broke in the beginning of April of 2016 in Nagorno Karabakh, autonomous province that seccesed from Azerbaijan during the decay of Soviet Union. First part of the work covers description of the history of relations between Armenians and Azers in this shaky geopolitical area, including the Soviet era and break up of Soviet Union. Second part of this work provides analysis of contemporary geopolitical contest in Caucasus and possible reasons for the resumption of this “frozen conflict“.
