Abstract

The work of the Parliament of Serbia, as well as in any other democratic country, has a special significance. The social sphere is burdened with numerous problems. The fact that the Assembly adopts the Constitution and is a holder of legislative power in the Republic of Serbia even more emphasizes its social function. Legislative and political role in the realization of interests of the people whose representatives obliges members of parliament on independence. Therefore Parliament should not be influenced by the executive, or the use and role must not be constrained by a variety of informal centers of power. This is especially important if one takes into account the role of the National Assembly in the national security and decision-making on matters of war and peace. Parliament, in terms of security, plays a significant role in terms of control of the executive with the responsibility of key powers in terms of system security (army, police and intelligence system). Using a number of mechanisms for the assembly, in terms of security, usually manifests achieved (reached) the degree of state national security of the Republic of Serbia and contributes to building the capacity of state security.
