Keywords:
the Kurds, the Middle East, Islam, Iraque, Turkey, warAbstract
It was difficult to immagine until few years ago that the Kurds would so quickly transform from assured terrorists and extremely disturbing factor on a politicaly unstable area into the biggest USA allies in the Middle East. Their fight against Islamic State, successful suppression of political and denominational disagreements under their control, as well as putting national in front of religious, showed that in a sense they are protectors of liberal values. On the other hand, creation of independant Kurdish state would absolutely change the political architecture of this region and cause incomprehensible consequences in a future. Therefore the Kurds have become the object of serious scientific opservations. By using domestic and foreign literature, the author has revealed the most significant events from the past of one great nation, which has now been creating perhaps the brightest pages of their history.
