EXTERNAL BUSINESS RISKS OF INSURANCE COMPANIES – RISK OF CHANGES IN THE INTEREST RATES AND THE EXCHANGE RATE

External business risks insurance companies are coming out of their environment and are reflected in changes in the financial markets. The most common changes in market indicators have in mind the change in the value of interest rates and the value of the domestic currency due to the volatility of financial variables that affect the value of assets of insurers and the amount of their liabilities.
According to the EU Directive, Solvency II, under the external market risks are considered to be uncertainty regarding the level of interest rates, fluctuations in stock prices and real estate, competition and concentration in the market, changes in the value of the exchange rate of the local currency, credit potential and standard of inhabitants.
