Abstract

The paper analyzes the key concepts of Bourdieu's sociology that are very important elements of sociology of everyday life – field and habitus, but also his views on social inequality. In order to explain these phenomena we need to put them in adequate intellectual context. That is why the main accent in this paper is on education and schools which Bourdieu saw as conservative forces that (re)produce inequalities. Also very important concepts are cultural capital, because this form of capital became one of the foundations of all inequalities in society, and life styles that are closely linked to vertical social stratification.
