Abstract

As a result of the increasingly frequent appearance of women in terrorist actions, this article will deal with examples of women who have entered in history as terrorists. The paper will present the four most interesting cases of female terrorists. A review of their lives will show a certain comparison. Their roles in terrorist actions, their motives and the reasons for their participation will be stated. Their motives are also contrary to conventional beliefs. Often, women's motives are similar to motives that encourage men to access to terrorist organizations: political goals, religious ideology, desire for territory, individual desire for power, personal reasons, like revenge, love, often just need for some adventure. The role of women in terrorism also has a very "exotic" context because it delimits the nature of women and defines a socially acceptable gender division.
