THE HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF KURDISTAN

In the vision of the Kurdish population, a program is placed in order to create their own state, internationally recognized, in which, their culture, language and traditions, atypical for other Middle Eastern nations, could be freely expressed. The main focus of this paper is based on the study of the historical process of creating the idea of Kurdistan and the creations itself, in the chronological range from the year of 1918 and the fall of the Ottoman Empire up until the present day. This is planned through using methods of comparative observation both of the Kurds movements and development of the Kurdistan idea, within the political and social context of the Kurdish issue. In the case of Turkey, a threat to its territorial integrity is embodied in the form of an autonomous Kurdistan in the southeast of the country, if we take into account that the majority of the Kurdish population in the Middle East is inhabiting the territory of Turkey and just observe military and political movements of the Kurds in this area, interested in raising and building the unified Kurdish state. Therefore, in order to be used as comparables, the shorter chapters describe the main events, positions of the Kurdish population and its autonomy within the political borders of Iran and Iraq. Bearing in mind the current political events and turmoil in the Middle East, the essence of the research is based on the historical, demographic and political assessment of the assumptions about the creation of a sovereign and territorial independent state-achievements of the Kurds, formed on the territory of Turkey, Syria, or anywhere in the aforementioned geopolitical and geo-strategic region of the Middle East.
