Abstract

By analyzing the front pages of Serbian daily newspapers, between the beginning of 2015 and the end of the first half of 2017 (Politika, Danas, Večernje novosti, Blic, Kurir, Alo and Informer), it was noticed that religious differences in content related to the migrant crisis, refugees, asylum seekers and migrants have not been identified in the domestic public as a threat to national values or interests, even though they appear periodically through the narrative of endangered Christianity and the losses of religious tolerance in Europe. It should also be noted that occasional concern about the activity of radical Muslim newcomers leads to an increased level of mistrust against the total migrant population, which creates the preconditions for the emergence of moral panic and crisis situations. The images of migrants are contradictory - some contain compassion, while others emphasize diversity, in religion or in other segments.
