INICIJATIVE ZA RAZVOJ TOLERANCIJE U UJEDINJENIM ARAPSKIM EMIRATIMA: JAČANJE MEKE MOĆI ILI NOVI OBLIK MULTIKULTURALIZMA?

Истовремено са тенденцијом пада мултикултурализма и толеранције у водећим европским државама, на другој страни света, у Уједињеним Арапским Емиратима (УАЕ) спроводе се бројне иницијативе у погледу развоја толеранције и стварања повољних услова за заједнички суживот бројих етничких различитости. Иницијативе толеранције у УАЕ представљају практично спровођење „меког“ мултикултурализма, односно ширење идеје да друштво треба да буде толерантно. Рад испитује да ли
постоје услови за развијање форми „тврдог“ мултикултурализма, који би можда у ближој будућности могли формирати нови модел мултикултурализма- УАЕ модел мултикултурализма. Имајући у виду да се УАЕ карактеришу као конзервативна држава, разматрају се и препреке које стоје на путу иницијатива толеранције, као и место и улога ислама у погледу регулисања различитости и стварања услова за заједнички суживот. Имајући у виду да је углед државе у свету од изузетне важности, рад испитује у којој су мери иницијативе толеранције у УАЕ средство меке моћи и механизам помоћу кога ова држава покушава постићи одређене циљеве и „замаскирати“ мање добре аспекте своје унутрашње и спољне политике.
