Насиље у оквиру интимних партнерских односа данас се препознаје као проблем јавног здравља, озбиљна и раширена појава којој је последњих деценија посвећена велика истраживачка пажња. У литератури постоји више теорија које објашњавају понашање једног или оба учесника унутар партнерског односа које карактерише насиље. Сврха овог рада је да укаже на актуелни научни статус теорије цикличног насиља, једне од најпроминентнијих теорија из те области, њену успешност и домете у објашњењу проблема насиља унутар партнерских односа, односно последица виктимизације партнерским насиљем.
