Apstrakt

Циљ рада је да, прегледом најзначајнијих области математичке социологије, укаже на њен значај на развој социологије, уопште. Стога се у уводном делу указује на историју настанка ове социолошке дисциплине, као и на најзначајније области које су се развиле увођењем математичких формализама у социологију. Како аутори овог рада истичу, најплоднија достигнућа математичке социологије могу се видети у теорији игара и анализи друштвених мрежа. Због тога, након уводног дела, аутори представљају основне идеје теорије игара, а затим и моделовања друштвених процеса и друштвених структура. У свакој наведеној области математичке социологије даје се и критички осврт на њену досадашњу примену у социологији. Завршни део рада посвећен је предностима и недостацима математичке социологије, као и препрекама у њеном ширем афирмисању у савременој социологији.
