Како федералне нације решавају задатак помирења друштвених, економских, језичких и културних различитости својих саставних јединица? Да ли је зарад очувања сложеног поретка нужно деполитизовати различитости и преместити их у приватну сферу? У којој мери идеје и визије утичу на процес изградње федералних нација? Какву улогу игра спољашња претња, стварна или измишљена? Која је права стратегија изградње сложеног поретка између партнера неједнаке политичке, војне и економске снаге? Ово су питања на које у чланку тражимо одговор у светлу упоредног искуства изградње америчког, немачког и швајцарског федералног поретка.
