CREATION OF A NEW SERB IDENTITY AS IDEOLOGICAL PROCESS OF MILAN NEDIC GOVERNMENT

Abstract

The need to create a „new man” existed in all societies, especially in societies that were located in difficult and crucial historical moments. In the first half of the 20th century extremist ideologies, such as fascism, nazism and communism had aggressive approach in building a new type of man. Fascist create it on the conservative, organicistic and racial grounds. Along with Hitler's conquest of Europe, in the oppressed countries, collaborationist governments followed the fascist ideological matrix. Thus, the need for a „new man” spread the conquered continent. Accordingly, it is propagated and during the Government of Milan Nedic in Serbia from 1941 to 1944. The followers and members of the Milan Nedic government supported the idea of creating a „new Serb” in the context of how they thought, national and homeland healing process. In this sense of the word, the most important task was entrusted propaganda. It is supposed that propaganda should have to make an influence on the field of ideological changes and to support the changes in educational and cultural plans and programs. Therefore, education and culture were the main means by which it is supposed to build a „new Serbia”, which would be the heart of „new Serb” above all in the service of the Serbian people. On the foundations of cultural, educational and moral construction of the preferred type of Serbian personality was emphasized twisted character of the Jews, as an example of universal evil.
