Abstract

An average contemporary video game is created by a team of some 2,000 experts in various fields. A different parts of a game is created on different locations around the planet only to be compiled and tested at one location. In addition, for production of a large video game up to 300 million dollars are spent before the official launch. Planning, synchronization and control of execution of every individual task of all those people involved in the production process and spending of millions of dollars of investors’ money demands the most serious managerial approach. There cannot be delays or hiatuses in the production, nor can there be differing or poor understanding between these various groups of creative individuals. Therefore, the video game management currently is a pinnacle of management of creative industries. The quality of the finalized product is directly tied to strict application of scientific and practical management methods in video game production as in any other field. Because of that it is of crucial importance that founding principles of management are applied as a behavior pattern and translated into practical activities of people involved in creating a product of the creative industries.
