Abstract

Climate change is threatening hundreds of millions of people in large cities on the shores of the world's oceans, in deltas and on the banks of large rivers, as well as on the low Pacific islands, and in areas along the edge of deserts. Again, the most vulnerable groups are the urban poor, the rural population, women, children, the elderly and other particularly vulnerable populations, such as the already displaced and refugees. Most people in the so-called "Developing countries" are poor, socially and economically deprived and very often endangered by some form of conflict people who actually have the least chance and opportunity to resist and adapt to change, and very often do not have the opportunity to leave these areas. Thus, the environmental reasons for displacement are strengthened by various political, economic, social and demographic reasons, and all this irreversibly affects the well-being and health of people, the availability of basic resources and energy for life. The paper analyzes the impact of climate change on the environmental security of small island states, whose examples can most directly show the devastating effects of global warming and rising sea levels, through the first indicator of environmental insecurity, namely migration.
