BIOTERRORISM – GLOBAL RISK MICROMETER DIMENSION

Biological factors as causes of human suffering and pain, disease and mass death followed human civilization from its inception to the present, from ancient times, wars were companions, and often decisive influence on the outcome.
Besides the possibility to use in armed conflict, most recently the frequent use of biological agents by terrorist organizations, sects or individuals, which is defined as a biological terrorism. Due to the characteristics that these funds are suitable for achieving certain goals (efficiency and simplicity, ease of use, combination with other agents ...), many microbes and their toxins have been used or tested as a biological weapon. In addition to aerosols, can be applied through contaminated food and water or directly to the skin and mucous membranes. In recent years, changing the genetic composition of the methods of molecular genetics, it is possible create microorganisms with new features which makes them more lethal means.
Since terrorists are now searching for new, more destructive and more easily accessible weapons threat is emerging from the use of biological weapons in the post-Cold War period, which indicates how the threat of attacks in bioterrorist increasingly more realistic than in the past. Therefore, stresses the importance of establishing good legislation to sanction abuse of biological agents and measures to be taken at the highest level, as we would not have occurred more biological tragedy.
