CERTAIN METHODOLOGY AND METATHEORETICAL PROBLEMS OF RATIONAL CHOICE THEORY

Advantages of rational choice theory are reflected in the development of precise hypotheses and theoretical models that it can be derived and empirically tested in research. Although it has caused many discussions and has been repeatedly declared invalid by its critics, rational choice theory has successfully entered into the basic sociological research and to some extent transformed into mejnnstrim. Related to thесе discussions is the transformation of the basic assumptions of rational choice theory. The ambitious goal of of rational choice theory was to adapt the social sciences with common behavioral mikroosnovama. It was believed that this common core offered theory or instruction for social research and united the acquired knowledge in different fields of application. As the wide version of rational choice theory has abandoned many of its traditional restrictive assumptions, auxiliary assumptions about preferences, beliefs and constraints actors' have gained in importance. The emptiness of the core of the wide version of rational choice theory is a problem for rational choice theory' ambition to be a theory or instructions for empirical research.
