Abstract

The aim of this paper was to point to narrative process of creation of totalitarian regimes through discourse analysis in the myths of Italian fascism. The syntagmatic expression “Italian fascism” should clearly differentiate fascism from its later derivatives, especially Nazism, taking into account diverse supreme topoi of those ideologies - the topos of State in fascism and the topos of Race in Nazism. The paper shows the use of discourse in shaping symbolical reality which is in dichotomy with everyday life. The paper analyses the most representative myths by which the fascism constructed its discourse: The Myth of Rome, The Myth of Revolution, The Myth of New Man as well as the concept of fascism as a political religion. The analysis of fascist discourse includes philosophical and sociological concepts which made possible its ungrounded promotion to the form of a doctrine as intellectual framework of raw action as a constant mantra in discourse and practice.
