VOJVODINA AS A REGION OF STRATEGIC IMPORTANCE FOR FOREIGN POLICY INTERESTS OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

The article aims to provide a conceptual explanation and a theoretical framework for regularities of foreign policy strategy of the Russian Federation with regard to Vojvodina in a wider context of its foreign policy in Serbia and the Balkans. The foreign policy strategy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Serbia and the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina is analysed by means of the theory of realism in international relations, that is significantly complemented by the theory of constructivism with regard to ideas and values. The article analyses the role of Vojvodina in the actual foreign policy of Russia in Southeastern Europe, according to its National Security Concept. Interests of Russia as a geopolitical superpower in Vojvodina are projected onto the spheres of military security, economy, energetics and identity politics. Treatment of Russian investments in energy sector is analysed as a specific dimensions of stable cleavages in the party system on the provincial level.
