Abstract

This paper is dedicated to the general analysis of relation between youth subcultures and crime. The first chapter contains presentation and commentary about the already existing definitions regarding the phenomenom of subculture. Second chapter includes observation of the general relation between subcultures and crime. Next part contains typology of the criminogenic youth subcultures. Chapter number four is dedicated to the pointing out and analysis of the characteristic forms of criminal behaviour, with comparison to the local positive law regulations. The final chapter incorporates a review of mutual interactions between various subcultural groups and especially, between crime related to them. Some of the highlights of the resulting insights and conclusions are the following: the number and heterogeneity of offenses related to specific subcultural groups; unnecessity of an introduction of new, specialized incriminations; relativity and flexibility of the "subcultural crime" category; the existence of characteristic, basic (music, sport) and synthetic (politics, religion) factors of subcultural integration; the need for caution in interpreting the primary causes of subcultural crime (the importance of individual, psychosocial characteristics of the perpetrator); mutual interaction between subcultures and, connected with that, debatable determination of a certain subcultural group connected with certain offense in particular case.
