THE PARTICULARITIES OF ORGANIZED CRIME IN SERBIA

The paper discusses the structural features of organized crime in postconflict, transitional societies, with a special emphasis on Serbia as a case study. Many characteristics of the emergence and dynamics of organized crime are shared by criminal organizations in the various postconflict, transitional soceities. Hence, the author holds it that the specific developments and phenomena discussed in the paper are illustrative of general trends in the development of organized crime in transitional states. Similarly, the models of policing organzed crime are also similar and tend to be governed by specific methodologies of criminal intelligence.
