MEDIA DISCOURSE AND COMMUNICATION PERSPECTIVES OF JACOBSON’S LINGUISTIC FUNCTIONS

Highlighting the functions of language in communication, depending on the focus on particular elements of communication, Jacobson described a model that is primarily concerned with the notion of meaning and the internal structure of the message. This paper presents the basic theoretical concepts of Jacobson's communication model of language functions in the service of media discourse which is compared with the literary text in order both to determine the communication perspective of the linguistic model and to display the importance of functions aimed at the elements highly important for media production.
