Abstract

In the European countries, the development of the social entrepreneurship and the functioning of the social enterprises for labor integration have been encouraged since the 1970s. However, social entrepreneurship in Serbia has begun to develop since 2000 and the current situation in that field is still at a very low level, given the fact that there are currently few social enterprises as well as low inclusion rates of vulnerable social groups in them. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to determine the level of awareness in society about the position of the vulnerable social groups in Serbia, as well as to show the opportunities for more intensive development of social entrepreneurship. The aim is to determine the attitudes of the citizens of Serbia about the legal framework that regulates the protection of the vulnerable social groups rights and whether is there an adequate implementation of existing laws. In addition, it is also important to determine on the basis of which sources of information citizens form their attitudes on this topic. Also, the goal is to determine whether there is a desire and motivation for the employment of the members of the vulnerable social groups. The research includes 150 randomly selected respondents. The survey method was applied while the instrument for questioning was a questionnaire. Statistical method used was descriptive statistics.Based on the reslts of the conducted research we got information about the public opinion about the research topic and we gave the recommendations for the future improvement.
