Abstract

Saint Sava the central figure of Serbian history, occupies a very important place in theological and philosophical thought of bishop Nikolai. Among other things, he composed the biographical writing The Life of Saint Sava and offered the definition of Svetosavlje as “Orthodox Christianity of Serbian style and experience”. In the book The Serbian Pe-ople as a Servant of God (Theodoulos) bishop Nikolai calls the Autocephaly Serbian Orthodox Church: independent national Church. The mission of Saint Sava, the first Serbian archbishop and of the Serbian Inde-pendent Church in Serbian state and people according to bishop Nikolai is realized in Theodouly-service to God, from the ruler to the last peasant. Through the Theodouly the Serbian Independent Church leads the people to the Kingdom of Heaven as the highest aim and desire of all Christian ef-forts. Sava’s choice for the Kingdom of Heaven is spiritual milestone in the history of Serbian people as Christian nation and, at the same time, gives eschatological dimensions to its history and existence. In particular, by serving to Lord Jesus Christ in His Church, is realizing the consecration of nation and its ascension to the Kingdom of Heaven.
