CONNECTING AND IDENTIFICATION OF MODERN MAN WITH TRADITION (TRADITIONAL VALUES) THROUGH STORES AND CRAFT SHOPS – THE CASE OF THE CORE OF THE CITY OF KRAGUJEVAC

The subject of the paper defines the ways in which a modern man can identify himself with the tradition and characteristics of a certain historic period through the architecture of commercial spaces as a reflection of culture and area for everyday communication. The work analyzes and presents the example of stores and craft shops built during the transition from the 19th to the 20th centuries in Kragujevac, with special emphasis on the former characteristic architectural entirety of craft shops, which is now fading. The paper highlights the importance of authenticity and identity of represented sales items in stores, as well as the architectural entirety itself. In the end, work presents the importance of these spaces in terms of preserving tradition and traditional values, and also as starting points for the further development of the community.
