Abstract

In a phenomenological sense, the concept of state is an extremely complex concept. There is no consensus about the definition of the state among scholars. These difficulties come to light in everyday life which is characterized by insecurity, instability and variability. Based on traditional point of view, a state can be defined as complex political structure build of population, territory and sovereingnty. However, recent trends in development suggest that there is on-going transformation of a modern territorial state from the mid-twentieth century. Along with the evolutionary motion of the state, the development of technologies takes place. Based on that, the following question arises: to what extent will the development of technology determine the final form that the postmodern state will receive? The main aim of this paper is to point out how the development of technology has influenced each of the structural elements of the state and if it‘s justified to talk about the „virtual state” as the final form of a postmodern state.
