Abstract

A period of great economic decline marking the first decade of the 21st century, known as the Great Recession or World Economic Crisis, preceded by the US Financial Crisis 2007/08 and the US Mortgage Crisis 2007-09. is a manifesto on a global level that has affected many countries in varying intensity, so the scope and coverage as well as the course of the same, depends on the country. The roots of the financial crises, which will eventually turn into a global and economic crisis, date back to the period of expansive growth in 2003-2007. Even today, the results of taking effective measures in the fight for the recovery of the economies of all countries, which was hit by the wave of crisis, are being recorded. European banks, which were active participants in the US mortgage market, are becoming affected by the crisis, which is spreading beyond the US borders. The Western Balkans have seen a decline in economic output and rising unemployment, which it continues to struggle with, especially countries such as Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia and Albania.
