CORRELATION BETWEEN MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS WITH THE RESULTS ACHIEVED IN THE TEST BATTERY APPLIED IN THE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

Applicants for the enrolment at the Police Academy in Banja Luka have been tested with a view to creating a picture about the abilities that are crucial for success in acquiring skills within the curriculum of Special Physical Education. The sample consisted of 37 male respondents for whom the morphological charateristics were measured (height and weight), the body mass index (BMI) calculated, and who were then tested for motor abilities using a battery of seven tests.
Based on the results of descriptive statistics, a conclusion can be drawn that the subjects were able to complete 11.68 pushups on average (SD = 3.22). As for the sit-ups, the average realization was 26.65 (SD = 3.01). The values for standing jump averaged at 249.38 centimetres (SD = 15.50). The average score achieved for hand tapping was 50.46 (SD = 3.31). The average value of the forward roll-backward rollrunning was 6.53 (SD = 0.76). The achieved average value for the Cooper test amounted to 2864.32 meters (SD = 228.03). The variable for baton skills showed the average value of 7.07 (SD = 1.12). As regards the values of the morphological variables, the conclusion was that the respondents were 181.14 centimetres tall on average (SD = 7.16), whereas their average weight was 78.03 kilos (SD = 10.06). The BMI variable indicated the average value of 23.72 kg/m2 (SD = 2.28).
The results of the correlation analysis showed that there is a correlation between body weight and the long jump, as well as between the BMI and pushups. It turned out that the body weight has a statistically significant influence on one of the seven variables; BMI also affected one of the seven variable, whereas the height did not affect any of them.
