In addition to introductory remarks and closing considerations, the paper is organized in three thematic sections. The first one relates to the political upheaval and analyzes all politicological aspects related to the theoretical definition of this phenomenon, as well as to the influence that these political upheavals may have over the comprehensive political and security processes in a certain society or a state. The second thematic section provides theoretical determination of the intelligence service, special operations and subversive activities, with the intention of bringing them into the mutual correlation when organizing and carrying out political upheaval. In the third section, research activities focus on the operational methodology of a foreign intelligence service in the context of political upheavals, whereas there is presented a certain compilation of secret and offensive activities conducted by foreign intelligence services in the context of the research topic of this paper. The aim of the paper is the scientific description of ways in which particular countries exploit their intelligence services in order to implement strategic plans that are primarily directed at strengthening of their international position in the multipolar world of today.
