Abstract

Culture is not something that one is born with. Culture is learned. In anomic society, the fall of culture towards pseudoculture happens together with the fall of all values. The media, which should be promoters of culture are increasingly becoming promoters of pseudoculture. The media offer is deteriorating, the contents are cheap and of extremely suspicious cultural values, as well as of low ethical and aesthetic level. It is students who are supposed to be the intellectual elite of their generation, to be consumers of real culture, not pseudoculture. They should be leaders in the fight against pseudoculture in the name of promoting genuine cultural values. Therefore, the aim of this survey is to determine the ratings of realityshow programs in the student population of Faculty of Philosophy in Nis. The survey instrument is an anonymous questionnaire made by the author. The results show that reality-show programs are not the preferred way how students spend their free time, and their views are processed through the assessment of value statements.
