INTERNATIONAL LAW AND TERRORISM VIEWED THROUGH THE WORK OF IMMANUEL KANT „ETERNAL PEACE“
Keywords:
Terrorism, international law, Immanuel Kant, pacifism, geopolitical conflictsAbstract
Daily escalations of clashes on several fronts across the world in the last period have become social reality and represent irrefutable proof of the inability of international law and its subjects to sublimate the geopolitical interests of the world powers, in other words, to move from the domain of war destruction to the domain of pacifism, as the state in which international disputes are resolved only by peaceful means, or at least by diplomacy as a mean that allows the deal without a war (as continuation of politics by other means). Having in mind the quantity of armed approach, when addressing international and internal conflicts, regardless of the social level and context of the conflicts, taking into account the two world wars in the last century and a number of local, regional and world threatening focus today, Immanuel Kant's idea of the establishment and the possibility of maintaining peace in the world in time-limited periods, and not for the eternity, today seems to us more than utopian and lucid. The presence of non-normative concepts and the impact of political, sociological, and psychological circumstances, forces us to take a brief look back at the emergence of terrorism as, perhaps, the best social indicator of inefficiency of international law. It, also, confirms the primacy of irrational and irrationality over reason and rational, as well as probably the lowest point of human powerlessness which aims to fascinate and in that way it just shows the opposite. It represents the unpredictable and merciless power and we are going to try to demystify and make it more meaningful.
