MIGRANT CRISIS – SECURITY CHALLENGES, RISKS AND THREATS
Keywords:
migrant crisis, Europe, security challenges, risks and threatsAbstract
The subject of analysis in this paper is the current security challenges, risks and threats arising from the large migrant crisis that Europe is facing. Namely, Europe has recently been faced with a large number of migrants who have started their way from the Middle East and Africa to the EU.
The aim of this paper is to highlight the current security risks and problems faced by countries on the migratory route. Some European countries react differently in terms of migrant crisis and they take different stands towards the refugees. In this sense, some countries such as Germany received a large number of refugees, Serbia is a country which has offered migrants unimpeded passage on the way to their final destination, Hungary and Slovenia are the countries that have raised the walls at their borders and set up barbed wire to prohibit and prevent the entry of migrants (although not the states of migrants’ final destination), while Poland and the Czech Republic are states that have refused to accept a certain number of migrants, that represented the quota they must receive after meeting leaders of the European Union.
