In recent years, Europe has been constantly faced with a variety of terrorist attacks which are mostly religiously motivated. Because of that, the subject of analysis in this paper is religious terrorism. Terrorism and religious terrorism are constantly increasing, especially in Europe, we believe that there is a particular need for research about this topic. Religious terrorism includes the incorporation of religion to justify carrying out terrorist activities. In recent decades, most attention is paid to Islamist terrorism, especially after the terrorist attacks on the United States in 2001. Islamist terrorism is a form of religious terrorism, because its implementation largely justifies the interpretation of Islam. Because of all of that, Islam in recent years often has the connotation of the concept that encourages political violence. The aim of this study is to analyze the religious terrorism, as well as the causes of its growth.
