Abstract

Police sciences in Serbia still do not exist within the national scientific classification system, although they have already been studied in scientific and teaching police institutions. The attempts at their constitution are objected that their field, subject and methods are defined weakly and unclearly, and that they lack theoretical foundation. Despite partially justified objections, there are numerous arguments which suggest that these sciences can be observed as emerging science, in other words a relatively independent system of already existing sciences and scientific disciplines which study relevant factors of internal security of social groups and individuals.

The goal of this paper is to outline the foundation of police sciences (systematic, special and applied) through their task, subject of study, structure, as well as social and educational-institutional justification.
