Keywords:
geopolitics, regional security, Vojvodina, Middle Europe, The BalkansAbstract
Vojvodina has an important geographical position: it is a conection between the Balkans and Central Europe. Therefore, Vojvodina is important region for security of both regions. New threats to regional security that occur as a result of political, economic and demographic changes in the global and continental levels influence the geopolitical position of Vojvodina. As a key threat to regional security are considered four processes: the internal crisis of the EU; complex interstate and interethnic relations in the region; changes in the structure of the world political system; and migrant crisis. The article consists of four parts. The first describes the geographical position of Vojvodina and its importance for different regions. The second part is devoted to explanation of regional security challenges, risks and threats. The third part is dedicated to the processes which endanger regional safety. Coclusions are in the fourth and final part of the article.
