Abstract

The aim of this paper is to point out the importance of cooperation of the environmental sociology with other disciplines. Accordingly, it is pointed out that the theoretical basis of this discipline is interdisciplinary because it studies the relationship between society and the environment, as well as the consequences arising from that relationship, which in itself is the subject of studying various disciplines, both socially and natural. Particularly, it is shown environmental history that represents a special discipline of history and deals with the relationship between human history and the environment. This relationship is studied through examples of the rise and decay of large civilizations, from Sumera to the most developed countries of the modern era, developed through the exploitation of natural resources that also represent the cause of the collapse of many societies, if the needs of the population outperformed the amount of resources available. The theoretical basis of environmental history requires knowledge from other social (especially history) and natural fields of sciens.
