Abstract

Suicide is an extremely complex sociopathological phenomenon which endangers the most important social value - human life, which has been present in all periods of human history and has always provoked a strong reaction of society. The prevalence of its occurrence points to the importance of reviewing its phenomenological and aetiological aspect, all for the purpose of creating efficient prevention measures, or adequate national strategies for prevention of suicide. In this context, it is important to distinguish and analyse risk factors, while special attention should be paid to persons belonging to risk categories, to serve as the basis for formation of preventive actions aimed at more effective prevention of suicide, one of the leading causes of death.
