Abstract

Social conflicts are a common issue through all the periods of social development. It is therefore reasonable saying that the history of civilization is in fact – ”the history of wars and conflicts”, so the social conflicts are not unusual form of social interactions. Depending on the type of values, needs and interests as matters on dispute of social contesting, conflicts can have a different manifestational forms. From the security theory and practice point of view, the most commonly used classification is the one that makes distinction between armed and unarmed conflicts, so the one that differs international armed conflicts (armed aggression, armed intervention, armed pressures) and intrastate armed conflicts (armed rebellion and civil war). Consequently, the paper points out the conceptual definition, etiology and phenomenology of the contemporary armed conflicts.
