CRISIS AND DISASTER MANAGEMENT HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE

Paper is dealing with historical insights in crisis and disasters and the way in which societies and communities have dealt with those events and their consequences. As tthose kind of events are periodicaly repeated, although in different social and political circumstances, while managers in their preparations and planning process have in mind only the last great crisis that have caused disturbance and fear of public, authors are indicating the importance of historical recollection and using the past experience as research of past crisis can give broad insight in potential hazards and social consequences of crisis and disasters. Special attention is paid on hierarchy of crisis events, having in mind their qunatity and quality, and the nature of crisis response.
