THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE CLASSICAL THEORY OF SOCIAL CONFLICT TO THE STUDY OF FAMILY AND MARITAL CONFLICTS

This paper analyzes the theoretical legacy of the classical theorists of social conflict and the possibility and fruitfulness of its application in the field of analyzing family and marital conflicts. Although the contents of the theory of social conflict are predominantly engaged in macro-systemic analysis of social relations of cooperation and conflict, with emphasis on a number of issues related to intergroup conflict, it allows insights into some of the universal principles that are at the core of the conflicts of different level and nature. More specifically, this theoretical contents stresses propositions related to the many dimensions of social conflicts (frequency, intensity, degree of violence and outcome), which is necessary to keep in mind when analyzing family and marital conflict.
